Rudolf Ising was an animator who worked during Americas golden age of animation. Initially Ising worked at Disney with his friend Hugh Harman. The two animators helped with the creation of Oswald the Lucky Rabbit.
In 1929 the two left Disney and created Bosko the talk-ink kid. They developed the pilot for the first talkie cartoon. Warner Brothers then signed a contract to produce cartoons leading to the Looney Tunes. The Bosko animations created by Ising ended with the "that's all folks" which became a sign-off of Looney Tunes in later years.
In 1933 Harman and Ising moved to MGM producing Barney Bear (Proto yogi) allegedly based on Ising himself. They took the Bosko characters to MGM wit them, working on the Happy Harmonies together before disputes over money ment they moved on.
In 1940, Harman and Ising split up, with Ising later winning an Oscar for "The Milky Way". During World War II Ising helped the army by creating training videos. After the war he went into advertising rather than back to film, finally retiring in the 70's.
