An example of an upheld and non-upheld complaint under the code of "Good taste and decency".
Fiona Edwards complained about two broadcasts of "The fifth Wheel" saying that there was overt sexual content and nudity that was inadequately classified and had unacceptable themes for children. The complaint for the 6.30pm broadcast was upheld but the complaint 1.20pm broadcast not upheld.
After the first complaint, sky apologized and moved the broadcast to 10.30pm, also changing the rating to M.
Edwards wasn't happy with this outcome and then contacted the Broadcasting standards authority.
The Authority upheld the 6.30pm complaint saying that the broadcast was broadcast alongside "The Simpsons", a show that would attract younger viewers.
However, the 1.30pm complaint wasn't upheld because the authority decided that 1.30pm wasn't a time that most children would be watching television and so they wouldn't be likely to see it.
The Broadcasting Standards authority thought that Sky didn't change the rating of the show following the 6.30pm complaint in a timely fashion, as a result of this, sky was asked to pay a fine of 1500 dollars to the crown.
