I want my major project this year to be something around the concept of an observer watching a world that they inhabit, but are not part of. I was inspired by the mice and rats that we keep getting in our flat. One day I thought about how we see them vs how they see us and I realised how different that must be. I thought if I shot the film from the viewpoint of the mouse, I could mess with time, proportion and even how recognisable the humans are. In my mind, the humans will be the 'aliens' of the piece, with the mouse being more recognisable to the audience than the human characters.
I want the humans to be drawn using 2D, out of proportion, and I also want to mess with timing and form because I want to try and emulate how the small animal would see them. I am wondering how I am going to stylise them. I have a vague idea in my head, but it's not very clear.
For this class I want to think about experimenting with the style that the humans will be drawn in, also I want to experiment with developing the characters themselves. Finally, by the end of these experiments I want to have nailed down not only who the characters are and how they look, but also I want to have an idea of how they move so that when it comes to my major project I will know exactly how my human characters will look to the small rodent whose eyes the audience is seeing through.
Some examples of the look I am interested in exploring further to develop my characters style are:

This image is an example of how I want to mess with proportion by using different camera angles.
Another example of messing with proportion and exaggerating features to make the characters appear more 'alien'.
Another Style I will look into for creating 'alien' looking characters.
I like the sketchiness of this and want to make the characters kind of sketchy rather than with clear linework. I will experiement with levels of sketchiness: how realistic I want to go vs how cartoon-like I want the characters to appear. Ideally I will find a good balance between sketchy while still maintaining the cartoon's form.
