Major Project Character development

I began by taking photos of my flatmate from the perspective of a rat on the floor. This was to help inform me when it comes to drawing my own characters as to the proportion I will need to look at. I drew over on of the pictures to experiment with colours and drawing styles:  This is an example of a basic cartoony style. I thought that the lines were too clear and tidy and the colours too simple. I want to go more abstract than this.   In this example the line-work is more muddled, because rats dont have great focus I thought this might be a good way to show the bad eyesight without blurring the hell out of the image. But I still think it is too clear-cut and tidy.   The line-work on the last two is the same. I wanted to make it more of a scribble. I added a grey colour scheme to the send image to see how it might look like through a rats eyes. I'm not sure about it but I think, compared to the examples above, it is better.  I also think, compared t

BVA303 Homework

Looking into a reading schedule for my Major Project. Working Title: Tales from the Kitchen Cupboard. Intended as a web series. I am intending to make the pilot episode, and possibly develop some concepts for further episodes. The story follows a rat as he watches a group of young flatmates trying to figure out their place in the world. My research question is; "Capturing Subjectivity on Film; with particular focus on the use of multiple film techniques to differentiate between the observers world and vs. the world outside them." By this I mean I want to create a narrative that deals with one character viewing the world from their own perspective in such a way that the audience relates to the character. I want to combine this with the idea of there being a "wider world" (the world that the observer is observing). The "wider world" will not necessarily interact with the observer, however, I intend for the audience to learn more about the "wider

BSA306 Week 3

I thought that the first film, Tangerine, looked kind of cool in how it felt really personal as a result of being shot on a phone. I think that it was also probably quite helpful for them when they were shooting in the shop where there wasn't much space for a whole camera and lighting set up. The quality was pretty good considering it was shot on a phone and I think for the film, the style suited and added to the atmosphere and mood. In the Robot Skies looked really cool. I think the fact that it was shot using a drone really helped to add to the concept of being surveyed by technology. I think it made the film seem both more sci-fi, but also more relatable and scarier as a result. The high rise buildings suited the film being shot as if looking through a drone because it made the film feel more interesting in how it told a story that has been told in various different ways, in a way that felt new. I really liked how Kubo and the Two Strings was made. I love s
