BSA206 The Old Man and The Sea Review

I liked The Old Man and the Sea because I thought the animation style was really cool and the story was also quite thought provoking. The film shows an old man who goes out of his way to catch a huge fish, he finally does, however, the sharks catch up to him and end up eating the fish that he is towing alongside his boat. The boat washes up with the fish skeleton and the old man is found regretting having caught the fish for no reason. The animation style suits the story line, it gives the film an ageless-type quality. Overall, I would recommend and watch this film again. It is very pretty and quite thoughtful and I think it's a good example of a well made short film.

BSA206 More 1990's Animation.

In 1998 Antz was made by Dreamworks animation and was the second computer animated feature film to be made. Antz was followed by the release of A Bugs Life , which was also in 1998, made by Pixar. Both films are about ant colonies who rebel against the system. Pixar said that Dreamworks stole their idea as Jeffery Katzenberg left Disney for Dreamworks during the time that Pixar/Disney was planning A Bugs Life . A Bugs Life was more successful with the box office, but both films received critical acclaim. The band Gorrillaz was formed, created by Damon Albarn and Jamie Hewlett, who created it as a reaction to what they considered were the mindless, empty music videos on MTV. Gorillaz holds the Guinness World Record for most successful virtual band. Another 1998 film, A Perfect Blue , directed by Satoshi Kon, is a psychological story of a pop star told from different perspectives. The deliberately confusing story mirrors the central character's state of mind. Staoshi Kin was a

BSA206 Reservoir Dogs

Reservoir Dogs (1992) was directed by Quentin Tarantino. It tells the story of the aftermath of a group of criminals after a jewelry heist goes wrong and they begin to turn on one another after they suspect an informant in their group. The film is shot in a non-linear fashion, with more and more snippets of information being released as the film progresses. I think that this makes the film interesting. I'm not a huge fan of 'gangster movies' myself and so I found the gore excessive. However, I can see how the film is liked so much, as it is a well told, interesting way of telling a commonly told type of story. Sally Menke edited the movie. She edits all of Quentin Tarantino's films. The non-linear structure of the film makes it more interesting to watch as new bits of information are always coming to light each time. Overall, I would recommend the movie to others, but I probably wouldn't seek it out to watch myself again.

BSA206 Animation 1990's.

In 1995 Pedro Serrazina made Story of the Cat and the Moon in Portugal. In Japan, Mamoru Oshil's anime Ghost in the Shell , (1995) a budget cyberpunk feature film, was the first anime that had big success in the West since Akira (1988). It experimented with mixing CG and 2D drawings. It was re-made as a live action film later on. Henry Selick directed James and The Giant Peach , produced by Tim Burton and based on the Roald Dahl book, in 1996. The film starts and ends with live-action, with stop-motion in between. It won best animation feature at the Annecy International Animation Festival. In 1992 Mike Judge began his MTV series Beavis and Butt-Head. In 1996/97 he made it into a feature length film, Beavis and Butt-Head Do America . He later went on to produce the animated TV sitcom, King of the Hill . Bill Plympton made I Married a Strange Person in 1997. He is credited as the only animator to draw every frame in an animated feature film. The Film tells the story of a

BSA203 Developing my project

I decided on my final project being done with facepaint and then photographs of that facepaint. I am thinking of painting a portrait painting on someones face. This would mean I would do something already established and then, experimenting with facepainting techniques, I will try to alter the viewers ideas of what they are seeing. Basically, I will try to make a 3D surface look like 2D, I will try to make a real human face look unrealistic, and I will try to make a proportional human face unproportional. These will be the next things that I will experiment with in order to develop my project further. To do this I first need to find some facepaint of good quality. I also need to find the another of people I will be using. At the moment I am thinking of a 6 photo A4 series featuring two or three people, or a 3 photo A4 series featuring one, or two people. I am also considering maybe an A3 photo that features two or three face painted people interacting in the actual image, however,
