Vox was one of the first of the newly created species to be brought to life. In human years he is 25 years old. The scientist was murdered when he was 15 and since then he has been alone roaming from place to place. Vox is tall and slender, typical to the build of most of his species. He is disfigured as a result of the energy he gave away to the earth. He has only one eye, the other covered by a long scar stretching from his forehead. He has slanted shoulders and a limp-like gait similar to an old man's.
Being one of the earlier scientist's creations, Vox had more time to learn about the world before the authorities caught up with the scientist and his experiments. As a result of this, and because Vox is a fast learner, he was one of the first to react when told to run, so he didn't get caught.

Although the scientist genetically engineered his new creations to value empathy and to be thoughtful and caring, Vox was raised in a troubled climate and therefore he still grew cynical and distrustful of humans.
Once alone and abandoned, Vox had to learn to fend for himself armed only with the knowledge that, if found, he would be either taken advantage of, murdered, or both. He is very cautious because of this. He learned to live without relying on anybody else and has a strong sense of individuality and resourcefulness as a result. Despite his distrust and cynicism, Vox's pre programmed sense of empathy remains very strong.

When he was first told of his purpose and everything associated with it, he had felt betrayed and cheated. Previous to that the only human he had known had been the scientist, who had loved him like a son. After the scientist disclosed everything and sent Vox and the others away, Vox was initially very angry with the scientist, feeling he was just a pawn in a play, used and unloved.
However, over the years of travelling alone Vox slowly learned to feel compassion for the human race. He started to see small clusters of humans in hiding, unhappy with their situations and condemning the people who had created the problems for them. Vox began to realise that he was like the small, break away groups because they too were lied to by the people who they trusted at one point, and they also had to suffer the consequences of it.
Vox realised that many of the humans who struggled to just to survive because of the greed of others who had come before them held similar fears and rages as he did.
His sympathy for the common man lead to his decision to conform to what the scientist had instructed. He committed himself to trying to rejuvenate as much of the earth as possible while he was still alive to, with the intention of trying to help the poor people who had no fertile land to survive upon.

Since leaving the lab, Vox has made contact with none of the other creations and has subsequently lost hope of ever meeting them again. Being alone for so long meant he had a long time to philosophise about the world. He came to the conclusion that the only control he has over his on life is how he chooses to live it. This recognition lead to Vox's main motivation to be to live a life that he should be proud of. His ambition and motivation is to do good for the people who needed it most. He isn't afraid of death as he knows it will come for him in the end anyway, seeing as every time he heals, he gets weaker. Vox's one true fear is that he will be captured by a dictator before he dies naturally. He fears that they will imprison him and force him to obey. Vox's main ambition is to always stay true to himself. His biggest dislike is the authority figures that run the world and, by extension, their greed and lack of control that lead to the desolation of the earth. Vox believes that, by acting in the opposite way to those people, he can never be controlled by them and that is the ideology that he lives his life with.

Vox's favorite thing is when he 'heals' something. He loves the feeling of accomplishment and exhausted satisfaction afterwards as he watches something that was once dull and dead become vibrant and new again. That is when Vox feels happiest and most at peace.

BSA106 German Expressionism.

German Expressionism in film came about after WW1, after Germany lost the war. Germany wanted to revitalise the film industry and to create a better impression for the country. The German government subsidised the UFA (Universum-film AG), whose studios were the largest and best equipped in Europe. This became Germans golden age of cinema. German Expressionist film lasted from 1919 to 1933 when Adolf Hitler came into power. Unlike other Western films of that period that focused more so on creating realism, German Expressionism distorts reality to create an emotional effect. Expressionism films employed stylised set design, elaborate costuming, shadowy lighting that emphasises bold contrasts of dark and bright highlights and unnatural make-up. The settings are typically distorted and exaggerated, with key themes being madness, criminality and fracturing of identity. German Expressionism was a huge influence in developing the horror genre. They began to tell the story

BSA126 Animation Character - Tim Lockwood, Cloudy with a Chance of meatballs.

Tim Lockwood Tim Lockwood is Flint's father in 'Cloudy with A Chance of Meatballs'. I picked him because I think he is interesting because he doesn't have any eyes that we can see but the animators are able to show us his emotions purely by his eyebrow movements. Structurally, Tim's face is made up of very simple shapes, His eyebrows are a simple rectangle shape that has been given a hair-like texture design to show they are very bushy. His nose is also a rectangular shape with little realistic design apart from the flat rectangular shape. His mustache is similar to his eyebrows, only a slight curve to show gravity and to make his face seem more realistic. It also doubles as a mouth shape in many ways, similar to how his uni-brow doubles as eyes. The head shape itself is basically a conical shape with curving lines which indicates a chin. Tim Lockwood's personality is quite bland and conventional. Therefore, the shirt he wears is a pale, greyish b
