BSA106 George Melies

Georges Melies was a magician by trade but he was very interested in cinema. When the Lumiere brothers started creating films Melies approached them looking to buy one of their cameras. The lumiere brothers declined because they wanted a monopoly on the cinematographe equipment, so Melies made his own. One day during filming one of Melies cameras stopped working properly and when Melies watched back over the film he saw that things disappeared and moved in the playback of the film. Tim Lockwood's personality is quite bland and conventional. Therefore, the shirt he wears is a pale, greyish b

Very flat, with many scenes looking almost as though they were drawn on a page of a book with everything seeming to be all on one plane. Simplistic, geometric design and patterns such as circles and spirals. In regards to characters, characters drawn using simple geometric shapes also with little realistic features. Colours are vibrant and made to look as if done by watercolour. Lots of shading and use of different shades of colours blended together to manipulate how we see the light and to add to the richness of the colours. Why it appealed to me:  I like t
